Home from camping

It started out a rough week. We had to put Jake down on Monday. (see previous posts) Wednesday we went to Findley State Park for a campout with friends. The original plan was 3 families, 1 night. It turned into 2 families, 2 nights (1 family left after 1 night), LOTS of rain, thunder and lightning, and tons of fun.

So we get there Wednesday morning, unpack and set up the tents (yes we stayed in tents!). We then take the kids fishing...

After that it was swimming and then back to the campsite to start the fire for dinner.

We had just finished cleaning up from dinner and smores when the rain decided to start. And it rained, and rained, and yes the 1 tent did get wet but not badly.

We cooked breakfast between downpours and by dinner it was beautiful again. I love foil packet chicken and veggies.

Friday was bacon, eggs, toast and sausage again and then we packed up and before we left we decided to go canoeing. 2 hours of paddling, without any real help from the kids... boy are my arms tired! J man didn't want me to take the camera in the canoe (just in case we tipped?!?) so I didn't get any good pics from there but I wanted to show this one of a tadpole I found while we were fishing.

In all it was very relaxing. We made a few new friends, and saw a few GS cadettes dedicate their Silver Project during the rain Thursday.
